Welcome to my web site, JimSchurrBaseball.com. I designed this site to keep you informed about baseball camps and other baseball training opportunities in Libertyville and the surrounding areas. I have been coaching a summer baseball camp since 1994 and recently began to offer personal coaching sessions to players and travel teams from all Northern Illinois communities including Chicago’s North Shore, Northern and Northwestern suburbs.
I have been coaching high school baseball since 1988. I have been at Libertyville high school since 1998 and held the position of head varsity baseball coach since 2002.
My coaching career began at Elk Grove high school where I coached for four years as the head baseball coach as well as an assistant football and basketball coach. I later moved to Niles North High School and spent the next five years of my career teaching and coaching as the assistant varsity baseball coach as well as two years as the head varsity football coach.
In addition to coaching baseball, I am also the physical welfare department supervisor for Libertyville high school as well as the quarterback and receiver coach for the Libertyville Wildcats varsity football team.
Prior to coaching, I was a junior college All-American shortstop which led to a division I scholarship to Western Kentucky University. While there, I received an MS in Exercise Science and an MA in Educational Administration.
One of my greatest joys in baseball is to see my student athletes continue to play at the next levels. I have had the privilege of seeing four of my players advance and play professional baseball and over two-dozen have advanced to play at the division I level.
I currently reside in Green Oaks, Illinois with my wife Mary and two sons Austin "AJ" and Nicholas. |
